This style of Dendrobium is always an attention grabber! Dendrobium stratiotes is a rarely offered species that is considered one of the 'Antelope' flowers, which refers to the prominent, upright sepals. Each three inch to four inch bloom has white segments, contrasting with the bright purple veining on the lip. Blooms stems are long and showy, on plants that can easily reach 3-4 feet tall when mature.
Growing Suggestions: Dendrobium stratiotes is perfect for warm growing conditions with very bright, indirect light. We recommend wintertime lows of no less than 65° and summer temps reaching to 85°-90°, and always have strong airflow around the foliage. Plants do not like to be repotted often and should be grown in tight containers, with the crown of the plant well above the surface of the media. Always use an open well-draining media that drains freely. Plants should be watered and fertilized heavily during growing months but kept much drier in the winter.
We are so excited to be able to offer blooming size plants in 4" pots. Plants are large enough to flower for the first time in the next 6-12 months.
These beautiful plants were provided by our friends at a wholesale orchid nursery in Hawaii. Because we did not raise them in our greenhouses, we can not guarantee them to be virus free as we would our own lab grown material. Otherwise, we guarantee your satisfaction and safe delivery as with other plant purchases.
