Maxillaria Ben Berliner
(Maxillaria variabilis (gold) x tenuifolia aurea)
Our remake was made using the less common yellow forms of both species. As of Summer 2020, we have finally flowered our first plant and although not quite the yellow we expected, we love it anyway! Cute bronze-red flowers with a delicate yellow margin around the edges.
These will prefer cool to intermediate temperatures and damp feet. As they grow plants will become gorgeous specimens, suitable for baskets and hanging containers. Flowers will appear mostly in the early to mid spring but plants can freely show blooms throughout the year.
Growing Suggestions: We are currently growing these seedlings in containers with a light sphagnum moss blend. This allows constant humidity around the roots without leading to rotten or soggy conditions. Medium to bright light is best but plants must be kept in moderate temperatures to avoid leaf burn. Good airflow is a must for healthy foliage.
We are offering Blooming Size Plants growing in 6" plastic pots. Since these prefer to be slightly overgrown before flowering it is best not to repot or disturb them for at least 12 months.
