International and Overseas Shipments
*Carter and Holmes will not ship orders to freight forwarders, cargo carriers or re-mailer boxes within the United States unless the appropriate paperwork is included with the plants. NO EXCEPTIONS. *
It is the policy of Carter and Holmes Orchids to require payment in U.S. Dollars before releasing any foreign or overseas order for shipment. A proforma invoice will be emailed upon request and plants reserved for up to 30 days, unless other arrangements are made prior. Your local authorities can advise you as to your current import requirements. If an import permit is required, we will need a copy. In most cases, we must provide a Phytosanitary Certificate and CITES documentation with your order.
As of January 1st, 2020, there is a $500 plant minimum for orders that require CITES paperwork. International Orders must be emailed directly to chsales@carterandholmes.com. (Website will not accept shipping address outside the US)
Not all hybrids and species we sell can be exported under our current CITES paperwork. We will need to confirm availability before shipping. We must bare root all plants that we ship to Canada and overseas including Hawaii. Please allow time for your orders to be inspected before shipment.
To our customers in Hawaii, Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands and Guam: Only Phytosanitary Certificates are required for shipments but there is a minimum order of $50.00 worth of orchids. We charge a processing fee of $7.50 for Phytosanitary Certificates alone. Hawaiian customers must have an import permit issued by the State of Hawaii. Most orders to these places will ship Priority Mail.
Canadian Shipments: (Canadian shipments will be sent by FedEx Express services.)
Orders with plant totals under $1250 will be charged $125.00 for both Phytosanitary Certificates and CITES documentation.
Orders with plant totals over $1250 will be charged $165.00 for both Phytosanitary Certificates and CITES documentation.
Overseas Shipments: (Overseas shipments will generally be sent by Global Express Mail.) Customer must provide us with a valid Import Permit before we will set aside plants.
Orders with plant totals under $1250 will be charged $125.00 for both Phytosanitary Certificates and CITES documentation.
Orders with plant totals over $1250 will be charged $165.00 for both Phytosanitary Certificates and CITES documentation.
All orders shipped to Canada & Overseas will be charged a 7.5% Packing Charge and then the Actual Cost of Shipping.
