Antique German Porcelain Plate with Cattleya Painting
We have traced this unusual piece back to Royal Bonn, a well-known porcelain maker in Germany. The front shows an artistic rendering of a Cattleya orchid. The back of piece is dated handwritten 1873 B~ (referring to Bonn) and also shows the makers stamp (see photos).
The original gold gilt around the edges have extreme fading. And there is some crazing in the glaze on the backside and small amount at the front edges.
Photo shows the exact item, front and back. The platter is 13 1/2" long and just over 8" at widest point.
