Cattleya dowiana var. aurea (3N) x self
This is one of the most requested, and hard to find Cattleya species. Soft parchment yellow blooms have a blood red lip with distinctive gold veining. Not suggested for cool growing spaces, or for amateur growers. Cattleya dowiana can be very selective about its growing conditions. Rare and choice.
These are a 3N or triploid form of the species. The foliage is very wide and sturdy and flowers should have excellent form. Triploids generally grow and flower like the highly desirable tetraploid (4N) forms, but are usually sterile in regards to hybridizing.
We have a handful of very pretty seedlings currently growing in 2.5" pots. Plants are expected to be flowering size in 2-3 years.
