Exclusive Cattleya Hybrids
Carter and Holmes has produced generations of quality dark purple Cattleya orchids and these new offerings are the next step. All three of the crosses below have Blc. Oconee 'Mendenhall' in their family tree, along with other quality parents.
Each collection will include one each of the following crosses. Seedlings are established in 2.5" pots and approximately 2-3 years from flowering size.
10757 Blc. Michael Crocker (Blc. Mac Holmes 'June' x Blc. Lake Murray 'Mendenhall' AM/AOS). Our earlier grex of this produced many stunning dark purples with rich coloring and amazing fragrance. This is a remake using a new combination of parents.
10672 Blc. Lindsey Andreason x Blc. Fran Wilson 'Mendenhall'. Both of these parents are jewels that bloom in the early fall. We are hoping to see a percentage with vibrant petal flares, but regardless the coloring and form will be excellent. (Photos show both parents)
10657 Lc. Blackstocks 'Fall Beauty' x Blc. Edisto 'Newberry' HCC/AOS. This pairing is so obvious, you would have thought this cross was already made decades ago! Gorgeous, rich shades of dark purple to fuchsia. The pollen parent can hold as many as four blooms per stem and both have vigorous foliage. (Photos show both parents)
