Phalaenopsis Corning-Cervi (remake)
(Phalaenopsis cornu-cervi var. chattalade x Phalaenopsis corningiana)
(bloom photos from original grex shown)
Phalaenopsis cornu-cervi var. chattalade is the intense red form of this species and was only introduced to the orchid world about fifteen years ago. Flower stems are evergreen and sequential. Our strain of Phalaenopsis corningiana has exceptional color and remarkable fragrance. (We can always tell when one is flowering in the greenhouse!)
We were inspired to make this primary cross in the hopes of a new generation of bold red blooms with delicious fragrance. The already lush growth habit is expected to stay compact, and should do well in baskets with a sphagnum moss based media. Foliage is a medium green and shows some dark red and purple shading. Glossy blooms with a waxy substance will appear on evergreen stems during the late spring and summer months.
We are offering 6-packs of seedlings. These plants are approximately 1-2 years (or less) from first flowering. We deflasked these into cell packs with New Zealand spahgnum moss and how they have grown! Thanks to an abundance on our benches we are able to offer them for a great price (no discounts or promo codes apply).
Most of these plants are ready for 3" pots. We are only planning to sell a few of these so don't delay! As with all seedling crosses there is a bit of variety in plant size and shape.
