Neofinetia falcata 'Bubbleyum' x Neofinetia falcata 'Newberry Blush'
This strain is made using plants from our 'Mendenhall' selfing. Many of them carried a bright pink blushing as well as the famous fragrance. Mendenhall is from the strain originating in the Amami Islands. This means plants are slightly larger than some with generous flower sizing. Photos show both parents used to make this cross.
Originally known in Japan as Fukiran, which means orchid of the rich and noble, this species has been highly prized for centuries in its native country. Dainty pink-white blooms with a heavenly sweet fragrance grace these miniature plants from early summer and into the fall months. An excellent choice for growing under lights or in sunny windowsills.
The vandaceous growth habit promotes multiple crowns and basal keikis which fill out small pots in little time. We recommend medium to bright light with plentiful air flow to prevent burning the small leaves. Plants have been proven to tolerate a wide variety of temperatures but 65-85 degrees seems to be best for strong growth year round. Do not allow the media to become completely dry even in winter.
We have these available in 2.5", recently transplanted. Plants are near flowering size, and expected to bloom for the first time in 12-18 months.
